Well, I guess it’s a good thing Steven saved the day, otherwise I’d be making a pretty depressing phone call right about now.” she laughed awkwardly and waved goodbye before retreating back inside the Big Donut. Sadie stared up at Stevin with wide eyes. “Then we sort of mushed together into one person.” He then told Sadie about the recent quake, and how Steven had saved Kevin from getting crushed by some falling rocks. My name’s Ste…vin.” he said slowly, as if he had to think about his own name. “Have we met before?” asked Sadie as she studied the young man’s face. “Oh, Sadie.” he got to his feet and nodded, all the while zipping up his jacket so as to hide his exposed stomach. Looking over their shoulder, the young man blinked. “Hey! Are you okay?” a voice suddenly called out. The concept of melding into one person was apparently a non issue for Kevin, who wanted nothing more than to raid Steven’s closet for a new outfit. “Oh, my god… Steven! We’re a total fashion disaster right now.!” Last but not least, he noticed the Rose Quartz that belonged to Steven resting comfortably where his belly button should be. He quickly found Steven’s flip flops and Kevin’s sneakers, both of which were too small to wear. His feet were absent from both socks and shoes, making the boy look around in the sand. The jacket he wore belonged to Kevin and thankfully fit better than Steven’s shirt, but unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for his pants, which had turned into a pair of shorts. The shirt he wore no doubt belonged to Steven, though it was nothing more than a tight fitting crop top on his body. Eventually his eyes began to trail all over his body. The boy looked down at his hands and stared with wide eyes and slack jaw. “Where–?” again he paused, mind going a mile a minute. “Kevin! Are you–” he paused, eyes going wide and darting all over. Together they tumbled out of harm's way, sliding across the sand until slowly coming to a stop. In that moment his gem started to glow, encasing his body in a warm light that spread to Kevin until it engulfed their bodies. Steven made contact with Kevin, body slamming into the older boy. With his eyes to the ground Kevin failed to see the danger from above, making him a target for fatal injury. The rocky hill behind him started to shift, causing a sudden rockslide. For a moment all was well, but soon enough the ground shook beneath Kevin’s feet again, effectively knocking him off balance. Sighing through his nose, Kevin relaxed his stance once more. Without warning the ground shook, causing Kevin to stumble on his feet. He leaned against the nearby hill that housed the temple and silently stared up at the cloudy sky, foot tapping in the sand. Kevin watched as Steven ran towards the beach house, leaving him alone on the empty beach. “Well, we can’t fight crime on an empty stomach.” he said with a smile. Giggling softly, the young boy rubbed over his empty belly. I guess we could go get a donut or something.” he said, knowing full well that ‘protecting Beach City’ meant they essentially had the rest of the day off.Īt the mention of donuts Steven’s stomach started to rumble. The older teen crossed his arms over his chest and shrugged his shoulders. He waved everyone off and looked up at Kevin. “Don’t worry, we’ll protect Beach City,” said Steven. Perking up, Steven suddenly puffed out his chest and put on his best serious face. She placed a hand on Steven’s head and ruffled his hair. “We need you two to stay here and protect Beach City.” replied Garnet with a soft smile. “Aw, what?” cried Steven, frowning up at her. “Peal and Amethyst will check the outskirts of Beach City, while I check the ocean.” Garnet then turned to Kevin and Steven, instructing them to stay put. If it’s not in town, we’ll have to look someplace else.” She adjusted her glasses and paused, then gave everyone instructions on what to do next. Using his fingers, Steven counted off all the places they had been until eventually Garnet cut him off. “Well, we didn’t find anything in town.” replied Steven. “I don’t think they are earthquakes,” said Pearl with a frown. “Did you guys find out what’s causing all the earthquakes?” “Sup, dudes.” greeted Amethyst with a lazy smile. Together they arrived on the sand, garnering the attention of all three gems. “Right.” replied Steven, picking up speed. “Let’s report in, Steven.” he said, his newly equipped bow resting on his back while his quiver of arrows hung at his waist. Kevin looked over in the direction Steven was pointing and immediately spotted the crystal gems. The gems Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl were standing on the beach, deep in conversation about the latest mission they were all on. “There they are.” said Steven, pointing across the way.
